WWE: The week in review

Randy

This past week has been interesting in the world of WWE to say the least. Word coming out of RAW was how Vince McMahon ended up changing the script once again, and the astonishing part was that the script was supposedly being re-written while the show went on air! And the WWE management wonders why the ratings end up in a slump every week. In this article, I look at the five interesting things coming out of the WWE this past week.

5. Curtis Axel’s next match

Axel and Heyman#

When Curtis Axel debuted, few would have imagined that he would be a part of the main event on RAW for three weeks in a row. The very first week, Axel faced Triple H, who was in action on RAW after 3 long years. On the next two episodes, Axel faced the WWE champion John Cena, and won both the matches due to count-outs. Next week, WWE’s current plans include Axel having a confrontation with Triple H, but considering how everything changes at the last second, quite literally, one needs to wait and see how things unfold. This past week, WWE rushed things and ended up pushing the storyline too fast, which resulted in the McMahons coming out and telling the fans that Triple H won’t be in action on RAW ever again. Of course, one wouldn’t be surprised if they forget all about it next week.

4. Jericho – Punk at Payback PPV

CM Punk

Reportedly, WWE is worried about the buy rates for the Payback PPV, and had to come up with a solution to make it a big event. You have a PPV coming from Chicago, so the only logical conclusion is bringing CM Punk in, and that’s what WWE did. Jericho might leave the WWE soon, and rumors are floating around that Punk might turn face soon. So their show down at Payback promises to be an interesting encounter, as we will not only witness a classic match between two of the greatest performers in the industry, but the Chicago crowd will make their voices heard. I for one am looking forward to this match alone at the PPV.

3. Jack Swagger out of action till August

Swagger

The bad news coming out this week is that Swagger’s hand injury might be more serious than what WWE initially thought. Swagger might not be able to step in the ring till August, which will put all the plans on hold regarding the All American American and Zeb Coulter. Would this mean Zeb will find a new client, like Paul Heyman did? If so, who would it be? Recently, reports came in that WWE might be interested in using Zeb’s services for other superstars. So that can’t be completely taken out of consideration.

2. Orton’s heel turn

Randy O

This past week on Smackdown!, Randy Orton RKO’d Daniel Bryan, which according to reports indicate an Orton heel turn. This is something that the fans have been hoping for, and if it is indeed true, then we can see an Orton-Sheamus feud through the Summer, possibly into Summerslam. Orton needs to turn heel more than anything else, and it looks like the WWE have finally taken steps to assure that.

1. Daniel Bryan facing Cena for the WWE title

John Cena

There is no doubt that Daniel Bryan is the best thing in the WWE at the moment, and the fans absolutely love the fiery underdog character portrayed by Daniel Bryan. Reports came out that the WWE management is interested in a Cena – Bryan program in future, possibly at the Money in the Bank PPV which can be only good news for the fans. It has been almost a year since Daniel Bryan has been in the main event scene, and we’d certainly love to see Daniel Bryan compete for the most coveted title in the industry.
