WWE WrestleMania 32 - 5 terrific moments from the show

Lynch during the historic Women’s Championship Match

The show of shows, the grandest stage of them all where history is made each passing year. What could have been ridiculous felt great. It was the gala of the absurd but it was a great day to be a wrestling fan.

There were disappointments, yes, but let us take a moment and think that maybe Raw can balance that out. This, at least, wasn’t the worst of WrestleManias. There were some terrific segments and let’s all try to remember this show for that.

Here are the five best moments from the show-

1) The real madman of WrestleMania

Shane McMahon won the hearts of millions

Shane McMahon is a mad, mad, mad, guy. This was more street than Ambrose vs Lesnar. Maybe this match was the reason for dumbing down the actual No Holds Barred match on the card. All the usual chants of appreciation were there for this match. There were also faint “please don’t die” chants.

The prodigal son gave his all in this fight. Shane McMahon might be old but he still jumped off that cage. He was broken in half. If you were still undecided on who should have won this match, that leap may have gotten Shane more support than he had.

This match also did what Lesnar vs Ambrose could have done but didn’t. Undertaker had a look of respect on his face and maybe regretted that Shane ate the pinfall. And in the end, when he was taken out by the medics, he gave the audience a thumbs up indicating everything’s all right with Shane O’Mac.

The feeling when the referee’s palm hit the mat for the third time, was one of despair. Shane O’Mac actually made you believe that he was the instrument of change. His performance in the loss will give Vince McMahon and the Authority some major heat.

2) History

Charlotte won with flair

Arguably the best women’s match in WrestleMania history. The show hasn’t really had the opportunity to be graced with a well-booked women’s match. But it was all different this year.

Not only did they have this match but they also unveiled the new WWE Women’s Championship. All three women enchanted the audience- whether it was Banks’ tribute to Eddie Guerrero, whether it was Lynch taking out Ric Flair with a suicide dive or whether it was Charlotte’s majestic entrance or her spectacular moonsault to both women outside the ring.

While it would have been great to see someone other than Charlotte winning, this result got some heat after daddy Ric Flair again interfered by hindering Banks’ efforts to get in the ring. .

3) You can’t follow The Rattlesnake in Texas

Dallas got a visit from the Rattlesnake

Supersized Booty-Os perched on the ramp, falling over and the New Day appearing from inside of it- this was called one of the strangest Mania entrances ever and there’s nothing wrong with that.

A night like this sort of deserves all these moments. The audience was all into New day’s shtick. Even if they were set to follow that terrific Intercontinental ladder match and Styles vs Jericho, the New Day had the crowd in the palm of their hands early on but then reality set in. There was absolutely no interesting story to the match. The League of Nations as a unit are booty and they won

They followed this up by having Shawn Michaels dressed in his wrestling gear, taking off his shirt, then having Mick Foley and then having Stone Cold Austin at Texas!

What a great moment all around. Just for a while forget the fact that these are all men who are done with their wrestling careers and remember the good times. Rusev also sold the heck out of that stunner. It was incredible.

It was borderline horrible to even imagine Stone Cold dancing but even if he shook himself a bit that was all balanced with a stunner to Xavier Woods.

4) Poetic justice

Despite a last-minute push by Miz, Ryder swoops in to thwart The Awesome One and claim the Intercontinental Championship.
Ryder stands high with his title

Most of you may not have noticed but during the build up to the Intercontinental ladder match, one of the facts that came out was that Zack Ryder was present at WrestleMania during the first ever ladder match for the IC title between HBK and Razor Ramon, arguably the best and original ladders match in history.

The WWE gave us the shock of the night by having Ryder win the title in a splendid match. Backstage Ryder recalled how he wanted to take a photo back then with Razor Ramon holding the title he won from HBK. And now he’ll take a photo with the legend holding Ryder’s title. Poetic justice and a WrestleMania moment.

5) Bow down to the queen

Stephanie McMahon nailed her entrance

That entrance could have made anyone feel affected by the wrath of The Authority. It was enthralling all round. Stephanie McMahon taking off that mask and taking on the audience was just about the perfect heel demonstration in front of a 100,000 strong crowd.

There may be many entrances that Triple H can recall as his greatest but his wife’s monologue before he arrived in the arena was the stuff of legends. This may be the best of the lot.

She even got speared by Reigns that made the audience in the arena rise to their feet. If there was ever an award for best supporting performer in the WWE, it should be hers.
