A popular AEW star recently apologized following the result of his match earlier tonight on Rampage, as he was defeated in singles competition. This would be Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed.

Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed lost their World Trios Championship to Bullet Club Gold at Dynasty pay-per-view, which ended their reign of almost eight months as champions. This was in a unification match with both AEW World Trios titles and the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship on the line.

Tonight on AEW Rampage, Anthony Bowens was in a singles match for the first time in seven months, and he faced Brian Cage. Despite the difference in strength, he was able to hold his own until he met a low blow from his opponent that would spell his doom. He took to Twitter to apologize for losing tonight, saying that he would begin to figure things out from now on.

"I’m sorry everyone, I’ll figure it out #AEWRampage."

How have The Acclaimed been doing since losing their AEW World Trios titles?

In the case of several stars who have dropped their titles, they usually fall to the back of the line and either take a break or work their way up once more. In the case of The Acclaimed, this seems to be the latter as they continue to make TV appearances.

Merely days after they dropped the titles, Anthony Bowens and Max Caster were seen in tag team action taking on a debuting world-renowned tag team in the Grizzled Young Vets. To everyone's shock, The Acclaimed was able to come off with a win, spoiling the debut of GTV.

They have yet to lose a tag team match after losing their titles, and despite a loss, Bowens still put up a fight against Brian Cage.

Now that they are not the trios champions, the factions could look to going after the tag team titles instead, or potentially individual singles runs.
