The ASUS ROG Ally can play Ghost of Tsushima pretty well given it is arguably the most powerful handheld console in the market. It is powered by the Z1 Extreme processor, which packs a decent single-core CPU and rasterization performance. Moreover, it now supports FSR 3 with frame generation which adds more life to the hardware and helps it deliver 60+ FPS experiences at 1080p.

Despite this, you'll have to crank down the settings in the game to manage a playable framerate. We'll list the ideal combinations for the ROG Ally in this article, both for high framerates and better picture quality.

The ROG Ally can push out 60 FPS in Ghost of Tsushima but you'll need to significantly lower the settings for this. We recommend the very low settings in the game for this along with FSR 3 turned on for the best framerates. The game looks smooth with this, but the visual quality takes a massive hit.

The ROG Ally can comfortably play Ghost of Tsushima at the Medium settings if high framerates aren't a requirement. We also recommend tuning down FSR to Quality instead of balanced, which helps with the visuals. The handheld still runs the game at over 30 FPS, making this a worthwhile tradeoff.

The detailed settings list is as follows:

Display

  • Monitor: Primary display
  • Window mode: Fullscreen
  • Display resolution: 1280 x 800
  • Aspect ratio: Auto
  • Refresh rate: Maximum supported by your display
  • Vsync: Off
  • Brightness: 50
  • Contrast: Default
  • HDR: On, if available
  • HDR max luminance: 270
  • HDR paper white: 200
  • Upscale method: FSR
  • Upscale quality: Quality
  • Dynamic resolution scaling: Off
  • Anti-aliasing: N/A
  • Nvidia Reflex Low Latency: Off
  • Frame generation: On

Graphics

  • Preset: Custom
  • Motion blur strength: 0
  • Field of view: 0
  • Texture quality: Medium
  • Texture filtering: 2x anisotropic
  • Shadow quality: Medium
  • Level of detail: Medium

  • Depth of field: Medium
  • Screen space reflections: Medium
  • Screen space shadows: Medium
  • Ambient occlusion: Off
  • Bloom: Off

Ghost of Tsushima doesn't look the best on the ROG Ally with these settings applied. However, it can play the game comfortably at high resolutions without major hiccups. FSR 3 with frame generation does the trick on the handheld.
