Minecraft is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary by giving out various rewards to its playerbase. There are a ton of new items being released every day and the streak will continue till May 29, 2024. Out of all the different rewards, perhaps the most exciting and popular one was the anniversary cape, also called the "creeper" cape as it has the texture and face of the green hostile mob.

Minecraft is also known for its hidden easter egg that players can find. It recently partnered with Google to allow players to "break" the search result page for Minecraft and find interesting items.

But as it turns out, that’s not the only easter egg in the rewards. A Reddit user by the name u/Omega_Karma found a hidden detail in the new anniversary creeper cape and it goes to show the developers’ attention to detail in making these rewards.

Minecraft anniversary creeper cape has a hidden detail

At first glance, the creeper cape looks like a normal cape with the texture and face of a creeper. But when you look at its backside, i.e., the inside part that remains hidden from view, you can see the number "15" written behind. This denotes the specialty of this cape.

Apart from this hidden detail, there’s one more detail that many players might have missed. While the cape is on, it shows the face of a creeper. But when the player equips Elytra with the cape, the wings show two faces of creepers. This makes the elytra look even cooler.

Two other capes were also added to Minecraft to celebrate its anniversary: the TikTok cape and the Twitch cape. Both require players to follow creators taking part in this event and then watch their stream for some time to get a code (players must keep their drops enabled). This code can be redeemed on Minecraft’s website to get the cape.

The anniversary creeper cape is a part of the 15-day event and it does not require players to go to another website. Apart from the cape, Mojang Studios gave players a free, massive Realms map made by over 100 talented map makers to celebrate 10 years of Realms in Java.

Additionally, the game's official X handle shared a video of Jason Momoa and Jack Black joining the celebration. Both actors will be starring in the upcoming Minecraft movie scheduled to be released on April 5, 2025.

But what’s even more exciting is that Mojang Studios might reveal the release date for the upcoming Minecraft 1.21 update on the event's last day. But none of this is confirmed, so we will have to wait and watch.
