Structures are inarguably some of the most important features of Minecraft. They are places for players to get incredible loot, from enchanted books to diamonds to enchanted golden apples. However, as useful and iconic as these structures are, they can sometimes feel lacking due to the absence of unique and interesting enemies.

Detailed below are five Minecraft structures that would be much more entertaining to explore with a unique mini-boss mob.

5 iconic Minecraft structures that deserve a mini-boss mob

1) Strongholds

Strongholds are one of Minecraft's oldest structures and one of only two structures required to finish the game. This inherently makes it more important than other structures, making the lack of interesting unique mobs even more confusing. Nether fortresses, the other structure required to finish the game, have blaze, a deadly and unique mob, while the closest ones strongholds have are silverfish.

The stronghold's role as a gateway structure to Minecraft's final boss fight against the ender dragon makes it the perfect candidate for a new miniboss. The structure is one of the only places to find silverfish, but as one of the game's weakest mobs, they certainly don't count as a miniboss.

2) Trial Chambers

Trial chambers are the largest feature of the upcoming Tricky Trials update. They are also the new most dangerous structure in Minecraft due to the variety of deadly mobs found within. These include husks, strays, the new breeze, and bogged mobs, all particularly deadly.

However, since trial chambers have been designed from the ground up to be difficult combat experiences, the lack of a true miniboss mob is quite apparent. Adding in a larger, more deadly mob would make them a truly remarkable structure, even if the miniboss was exclusive to Minecraft's ominous events rather than the regular trial chamber.

3) Jungle Temples

Jungle temples, the most interesting spawn features of Minecraft's best jungle seeds, are a strange structure. Despite sharing the "temple" title with desert temples, they are significantly worse, often having less worthwhile loot while being harder to find due to the jungle's dense foliage.

Adding a miniboss mob to the structure—maybe some apex predator to match the wilderness theme—would make them significantly more interesting. It would also help them stand out more against desert temples.

4) Mineshafts

Abandoned mineshafts are one of the oldest structures in the game. These tunnels can be found underground or surface within badlands biomes and are filled with ores, loot, and danger in the form of cave spider spawners. However, their creepy atmosphere is missing something, a miniboss mob.

Having a larger, more deadly version of the cave spider that could rarely spawn from cave spider spawners would make abandoned mineshafts more of a threat and adventure to explore.

5) End Cities

End cities are one of the most important structures in the game for two main reasons. The first is that they give players access to Minecraft's shulker boxes, which considerably multiplies the inventory slots a player has access to. The other reason is that the ships that generate alongside some end cities will give players access to the ever-useful elytra.

However, the End's underdeveloped nature starts to show its head here, as there is a noticeable lack of enemies to face. End cities are occupied exclusively by wandering endermen and shulkers. Having an end-theme equivalent for the elder guardian would make trips to get elytra much more interesting.
