5 best addons to have for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria

There are so many useful add-ons for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, but over the years, some of these have become redundant. Sure, you can use ElvUI to adjust your UI, but Retail has that built-in now. If you want to put forth more effort, ElvUI is worth looking at, but I wouldn’t consider it a must-have. Other add-ons almost made this list but didn't for similar reasons. For example, Bagnon was excluded because much of its functionality is already built into Retail. While the mod does offer some extra features, I don't think they are essential in this context.

Another mod that almost made the cut was Better Vendor Price. However, I decided against including it when I realized there’s no Auction House for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. Without the Auction House, the addon didn't seem as valuable. So as you get ready to start this new mode, consider these choices.

Which addons should you download for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria

1) Dialogue UI

Dialogue UI is an addon I only recently discovered, and it’s perfect for WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. It makes the quest accept screen bigger, has adjustable font size, and even allows for camera controls. The thing I think I enjoy the most is that you can accept quests with a button press on your controller or keyboard.

It’s just faster that way unless you use an addon that auto-accepts. However, if you want to check the quest details later, you’ll need to click on it manually. While it may not be the most powerful addon, it does provide a nice quality-of-life improvement.

2) DBM (Deadly Boss Mods)

Whether you’re playing Classic Hardcore, or Retail, DBM (Deadly Boss Mods) is a must-have. It helps players learn what dungeon/raid bosses are going to do. It has useful timers, notifications, and even distance checks, in case a boss needs you to be a specific distance away from your allies. Even if you’re familiar with the raids and dungeons in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, this is a necessity.

It often alerts your whole group, too - just in case others need it. While I do remember most of the fights from the Pandaria expansion pretty well, I feel better knowing I’ll see a countdown on my screen for when the Sha of Anger is preparing a strong attack.

3) Details! Damage Meter

I don’t know if Details! Damage Meter is a 100% absolute must, because people can get really toxic over damage meters. However, it’s a good addon to have if you want to know how your damage stacks up in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. This is especially true, considering how much variance the new gems can offer. The new gems for this expansion can influence your damage in a wide variety of ways, so it will be interesting to see how your character stands out, and if other gems might do better.

It’s a very simple mod that you can tuck away on your screen somewhere, and will, of course, have the option to share on various channels if you want to brag about how great you were doing.

4) WeakAuras

While Blizzard is making an attempt to hide boss attacks again, that hasn’t quite happened yet in Retail. WeakAuras can do virtually anything. Need a timer for a weirdly specific rare mount or pet that you’re trying to track down? This addon in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria has you covered.

WeakAuras can do that for you. It’s one of the most versatile tools in any Warcraft player’s toolbox. If you don’t want to put in the effort yourself, you can look up other people’s WeakAuras, and simply input that into your own addon. I’ve used it to track all sorts of odds and ends in the game.

5) Pawn

Pawn fulfills a role in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, that frankly, an addon shouldn’t have to do. It shows in your inventory when the loot you pick up is an upgrade. You’ll see a green arrow in the equipment’s icon, and if you hover over it, it will show the stats, as well as the percentage increase.

It also has a comparison window you can pull up, to see more detailed comparisons between your gear. Given the rate at which you pick up never-before-seen gear in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, I wouldn't consider making a new character without this addon.

WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria is live now, for a limited time on the Retail World of Warcraft servers. There are lots of new achievements and new mounts for players to farm, while this mode lasts.
