Joe Budden found himself in the headlines after a portion of Diddy's assault video was edited out of the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast. Social media users criticized Budden for removing a part of the video while he was discussing the clip with his co-hosts.

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Joe Budden took to X Spaces to respond to the criticism, saying that they received the news when the show was on air, due to which they spoke for a few minutes and continued to do the same for the entire episode. He added that it was an insensitive move, and everything that happened in those few minutes was not necessary.

"We gonna get to it on [Wednesday's episode]. I have absolutely zero ties with Diddy or anybody Diddy related. Yesterday was my very first time seeing something like that and it was tough to watch for many reasons."

The episode was titled Two Brands, One Stone, and the disappearance of the discussion was spotted by a fan. The criticism was also a result of the fact that the description featured a timestamp for Diddy.

Budden also said on X Spaces that he is willing to speak up on any topic on The Joe Budden Podcast. He stated that he would edit any segment that might be problematic and recommended that everyone maintain a distance from social media and focus more on what they want to do in real life.

Joe Budden had previously removed a segment related to Diddy and Cassie Ventura lawsuit from his podcast

Diddy and Cassie Ventura's names have been trending after CNN acquired a video in which he allegedly assaulted Ventura. The video was recorded at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles in 2016, and it went on to prove the accusations made by Ventura in a lawsuit against Diddy in November 2023.

Cassie accused Diddy of r*pe and domestic abuse in the lawsuit, and the same was discussed on The Joe Budden Podcast. However, Joe removed the segment from the podcast and later appeared on Instagram Live to reveal the reason. He said that it is necessary to ensure that the hosts and co-hosts are out of trouble.

"I had to do a little bit of editing 'cause y'all almost got me. Y'all almost got me to be the only voice out there saying some sh*t. Nah, them blogs would've had a field day with that podcast this morning. Nope."

Notably, Joe Budden and Diddy share a relationship due to the former's link to the cable television network Revolt. Back in 2018, Diddy also confirmed the same in a statement shared with Billboard, which read:

"Joe has an authentic approach and he's never afraid to speak the truth. His many talents deserve a platform that pushes the culture forward and we are excited to produce next-level content with him."

The news came almost a year after Budden discontinued being the co-host of Complex's Everyday Struggle. He even expressed his happiness to be a part of Revolt, saying that it is important to collaborate with something that understands the requirement to stream anything without anyone's interference.
