According to sources, it has come to light that Manchester United has been trying different ways to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo to the club. In fact, club sponsors Chevrolet and Nike had met with club officials to finance the deal but they could not reach an agreement with them. The reason behind this is the fact that Manchester United do not want to invest such a huge amount of money on a 28 year old. Considering that Real Madrid had paid a record amount of money for the player, they would be looking to recuperate a significant amount of it if any club does bid for him.
In fact, the sources also say that Manchester United are more interested in signing Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, but that would depend on whether or not Spurs qualify for the Champions League. Therefore, even though the sponsors were willing to fund part of the money required to get Ronaldo, Manchester United are waiting for the final games to be completed to see where Spurs finish.
