WWE had plans to bring back a 6'6 star in the company, but it couldn't happen due to former world champion Christian Cage. The star being discussed here is Tyson Tomko.

Tyson Tomko and Christian Cage worked together in WWE during the mid-2000s. In 2004, Tomko joined hands with Cage to help the latter in his feud with Chris Jericho. He played Cage's Problem Solver in the storyline.

After Tomko's association with Cage ended, he played a jobber's role in WWE. He was unsatisfied with his gimmick and decided to leave the promotion. But there were plans for him to return to the Stamford-based promotion a year later.

However, the plans could never materialize as Christian introduced him to TNA, and he went on to make a name for himself in Japan.

Speaking on Cafe de Rene, Tyson Tomko revealed:

"The plan was to come back. John’s [Laurinaitis] like, ‘Go there for a year. You’re gonna love the strong style!’ because, you know, that’s where Johnny was. So he loved Japan. He’s like, ‘You’re gonna learn all the things that… ’ Then at the time, Jay [Christian Cage] was like, ‘Hey, why don’t you come to TNA?’ So that happened, and so I was supposed to go right back to WWE!" Not many know, but Tyson Tomko did return to WWE for his second run, but he never made it past a dark match against Paul Burchill in 2008. It was reported that former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis got heat from Vince McMahon for arranging his return.

Tyson Tomko credits Christian Cage for his success

During the same podcast, Tomko credited former world champion Christian Cage for his success in professional wrestling. The 51-year-old stated that if it weren't for Cage, he would never have made it this far.

"I love Christian [Cage]. Without Christian, I don’t even know if I make it as far as I do, both in WWE and TNA," said Tomko.

Tyson has been absent from the squared circle for years now. He last wrestled in 2016 for an independent circuit.
