A former WWE Superstar has surprised everyone by turning heel for the first time in their AEW run after losing a match on the latest episode of Rampage.
The name in question is Deonna Purrazzo. She made her AEW debut in January 2024 after a stellar run in TNA Wrestling (fka IMPACT Wrestling). Purrazzo was also signed to the Stamford-based promotion from 2018 to 2020. The 29-year-old failed to capture the AEW Women's World Championship at the Revolution pay-per-view and has been directionless since then.
Deonna Purrazzo squared off against Thunder Rosa on the latest episode of Rampage. At the end of a great back-and-forth encounter, Rosa managed to defeat the former IMPACT Knockouts Champion. Purrazzo got frustrated after her loss and attacked La Mera Mera at ringside, turning heel in the process. The two women brawled among the fans in the arena.
This marked the first time the former WWE star turned heel after making her AEW debut earlier this year. It will be interesting to see whether she can avenge her loss against Thunder Rosa and secure a championship in the coming months.
