Black Butler season 4 episode 3: Ciel takes his revenge against Maurice Cole and becomes a Drudge 

Black Butler season 4 episode 3, titled His Butler, Plotting, was released on April 27, 2024, at 11:30 pm JST on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other local channels in Japan. The episode saw Ciel expose Maurice Cole's antics and become the Drudge of a Prefect.

Aside from that, the episode highlighted Soma Asman Kadar, the Indian royalty, who aided Ciel Phantomhive in his revenge against Maurice. Notably, Black Butler season 4 episode 3 adapted chapter 71 and the first five pages of chapter 72 from Yana Taboso's manga series.

Black Butler season 4 episode 3 highlights: Soma Asman Kadar enters Weston to help Ciel Phantomhive

After a short recap of the previous events, Black Butler season 4 episode 3 opens with McMillan sneakily entering Ciel Phantomhive's dorm. He asks him why he stood up to the Prefects and then learns the truth. McMillan assures Ciel that he will speak on his behalf and ask others to do the same.

Following that, Black Butler season 4 episode 3 shows Soma Asman Kadar arriving at Weston College upon Ciel's request. He delightfully greets the boy and says he came for him. Just as Ciel had speculated, Soma made it to the red team.

However, the Bengal prince's eccentricity irks Ciel, who feels he shouldn't have sent the letter to him. Sebastian cannot see the embarrassment, so he leaves. Amid the commotion, Ciel Phantomhive explains to Soma the reason he asked him to come.

He lies to the prince, saying he quarreled with Maurice Cole of the Red House. Since he doesn't have many friends, he doesn't know how to smooth things over with him. As such, Ciel asks Soma to observe Maurice and provide him with every detail about him he can gather.

Soma sticks like glue to Maurice Cole and discovers intriguing secrets

After gladly accepting Ciel Phantomhive's request, Soma Asman Kadar nonchalantly orders Maurice Cole to patch up with Ciel in Black Butler season 4 episode 3. However, Redmond's Drudge reminds Soma about how the boy brought disgrace upon the Prefects.

He vehemently tells him that as one of the Prefect's Drudges, he cannot forgive him. Yet, Soma doesn't give up. He persists with his request and follows Maurice everywhere, much to the latter's annoyance.

At night, Soma feels the urge to meet Ciel. He goes to the Scarlet Fox House's stables to ride his elephant. Unfortunately, things don't go his way, as the elephant wreaks havoc and destroys Maurice's room.

Soma's irrational behavior lands him five Ys (penalty points) from Redmond. As a sign of apology, he offers Maurice to stay the night in his dorm. Even though Maurice doesn't want to go to Soma's place, Redmond likes the royalty's offer.

Black Butler season 4 episode 3 then switches the location to Soma Asman Kadar's dorm, where he notices Maurice sneakily posting flower-shaped cards to the Red House residents. The next day, he reveals everything to Ciel and Sebastian.

He also mentions something more, which doesn't get disclosed at that time in the episode. Ciel and Sebastian realize they finally have something against Maurice. The boy with the eyepatch decides to settle things with Redmond's Drudge the next day.

Ciel Phantomhive exposes Maurice Cole's real identity

Black Butler season 4 episode 3 time-skips to the next day, and shows Ciel Phantomhive confronting Maurice Cole. The former accuses the Prefect's Drudge of lying to him and the Prefects for his benefit.

When Maurice calls it a false accusation, Ciel asks him to explain the incidents involving four other students, including Joanne Harcourt, who couldn't attend to the Prefect's invitation at the Swan Gazebo due to communication troubles with him.

He further accuses Maurice of leaving his Drudge duties to other students. To prove his point, Ciel brings out the flower-shaped letters as his evidence. According to Black Butler season 4 episode 3, Maurice sends his "requests" to other students via those letters.

Shocked at being exposed, Maurice asks Ciel where he obtained the letters. According to Black Butler season 4 episode 3, the Red House's Drudge ordered his minions to dispose of the letters after reading them.

However, Michaelis Sebastian unearthed the tiny bits of the letters from the garbage dump and restored them with meticulous precision. Maurice becomes shocked and he loses his ability to speak.

At that moment, several boys barge in and secure the letters from Ciel Phantomhive. Maurice laughs and chides him for thinking he would arrive unprepared. The Drudge steals the letters and burns them to ashes.

He also threatens to make life difficult for Ciel Phantomhive at school. However, at that moment, Black Butler season 4 episode 3 shows the Prefects of the Green, Violet, and Blue Houses arriving at the scene.

Maurice cannot believe how the Prefects from the Swan Gazebo can get to the premises so quickly. Ciel explains that he used wire strings to expose their conversation to the Prefects.

Redmond calmly responds from the other side and admonishes Maurice for his deeds. He also severs the brotherly ties (Drudge ties) with him. Meanwhile, Ciel advises Maurice to live an honest life and face his real self.

Edward, the Drudge of the Green House, apologizes to Ciel Phantomhive for not trusting him. The Prefects also applaud Ciel for his brave deed. Black Butler season 4 episode 3 ends with Lawrence Bluewer's Drudge, Clayton, accepting Ciel Phantomhive as his Drudge.
