Duane is an MMA fighter and Jiujitsu competitor and a reporter at Sportskeeda. At age 21, he was struck with a rare illness that paralyzed him from the waist down, forcing him to hang up his gloves temporarily to focus on treatment and recovery. After a year, Duane once again went back to training, adding wrestling and weightlifting to his repertoire.

By 2012, Duane fought his first MMA fight, something he calls a "passionate hobby" that he still practices and competes in to this day. Through the years since his MMA debut, the now-36-year-old writer juggled many passions: film, writing, art, and MMA. He is currently a 3-stripe Jiujitsu Bluebelt and has an overall pro-am MMA record of 9-5.

Duane currently resides in Baguio City, Philippines, where he trains with numerous Team Lakay and ONE Championship fighters.
