The Milwaukee Brewers will be without their third baseman, Luis Urias, after he sustained an injury. The slugger injured his hamstring on Thursday and had to be removed from the game.

Ahead of their Saturday matchup with the Chicago Cubs, manager Craig Counsell stated that Urias would be out for at least 6-8 weeks. In light of Urias' injury, the team has called up prospective outfielder Joey Wiermer.

Urias has been placed on the 10-day IL. Brian Anderson will likely shift from right field to third base for now. This would open up a spot in the outfield for Wiemer, who is ranked the team's number-three prospect.

This was a blow to the team as Urias lit it up for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. The Brewers were excited to see that transfer over to the major leagues.

"Haha. Good April Fool's joke Adam. You almost had me! Wow... that one had me scared for a second," one fan tweeted.
"Man, really tough break out the gate," tweeted another fan.

It's tough to get excited about any team when an injury happens on Opening Day. Milwaukee Brewers fans are disappointed to hear how long Urias will be out.

This wasn't the start that Brewers fans had envisioned. Not only did they lose Urias to injury, the team got shut out by the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day. It just added salt to the wound.

Joey Wiemer will take advantage of his opportunity with the Milwaukee Brewers

It was disappointing for Milwaukee Brewers fans to see that prospect Joey Wiemer did not make the Opening Day roster. He had a strong spring that turned heads around the organization.

Wiemer was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. He played college ball for the University of Cincinnati and was a Cape Cod League All-Star.

He was placed in the starting lineup on Saturday, batting ninth and playing center field for Milwaukee. It didn't take long for him to get his first hit as he roped a double off Cubs pitcher Justin Steele in the first inning. There's no doubt that he's keeping that ball.

This will be the first hit of many for Wiemer, who is poised to become something special. He will be a player that fans will want to keep an eye on, as he should take advantage of every opportunity he gets with Urias out.
