Today, six-time All-Star Joey Votto reflected on his long-running career with the Cincinnati Reds and the humongous amount of love he has received from the club's fans during the last 17 years.

Votto was picked by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft with the 44th overall pick, right out of high school. On September 4, 2007, he eventually made his major league debut against the New York Mets.

"I feel 18 still. I feel like I just got drafted. It feels like I am ... first time putting on a red uniform. It feels like my first training. I can't explain it how it feels. I get excited and anxious," said Votto while looking back at his time with Reds.
"They [Reds fans] have been so good to me, so steady... I feel connected to the fans, and therefore, I want to give back in ways," added Joey while talking about the fanbase.

In the past 17 years with the Reds, Votto has received six All-Star awards (2010-2013, 2017, 2018), was named the National League MVP in 2010 and won the Gold Glove Award in 2011.

Last season was not kind to Cincinnati Reds All-Star Joey Votto. Injuries interfered with his 2022 campaign. On August 19, 2022, he underwent surgery to repair a ruptured left rotator cuff that ended up ruining his season.

Votto's injury dates back to 2015. Yet with muscle training, he was able to play despite the pain.

In terms of batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, Votto finished with career lows. Following the surgery, he made multiple appearances in the Cincinnati Reds' broadcast booth (TV) to keep up with the season.
