MLB podcaster raging after New York Yankees batting trio's miserable performance: "I’d rather gouge my eyes out than watch Hicks-IKF-Higgy"

New York Yankees fans are frustrated with their middle order underperforming, as the trio of Aaron Hicks, Isiah Kiner Falefa and Kyle Higashioka had a horror show against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The Yanks lost 4-1 as the Phillies became the last team to get a win this season.

The aforementioned trio batted in succession, twice during the game, but were unable to win a base in each innings. In the bottom of the fifth, both Hicks and Higashioka struck swinging as Kiner-Falefa was out on a line drive. Hicks and IKF had two groundouts in the bottom of the eighth before Higashioka struck out for the third time in the game.

It was a mild performance for an already under-the-pump trio who are looking to make it work with the New York Yankees. Aaron Hicks and Isiah Kiner-Falefa are yet to have a hit in their second at bats throughout the season.

Kyle Higashioka impressed against the San Francisco Giants with a solo home run but after Tuesday's showing, his average has dropped to .143. Podcaster Eric Hubbs called out the three players:

"I’d rather gouge my eyes out than watch Hicks -IKF -Higgy hit in succession ever again."

After Hicks struck out in the fifth innings, captain Aaron Judge was seen putting a quiet word in his ear. As the leader in the clubhouse, Judge probably takes it on himself to motivate the New York Yankees players.

“We’ll kind of keep that to ourselves, but it’s just being a teammate, talking to him,” Judge said after the Yankees’ 4-1 loss to the Phillies. “Most of it was just asking about what he saw at the plate, getting his mind off some things, getting a little scouting report.”

Aaron Boone takes call on New York Yankees trio

In the last game of the series against the Phillies on Wednesday, manager Aaron Boone dropped Aaron Hicks, Isiah Kiner Falefa and Kyle Higashioka from the lineup.

He brought in Oswaldo Carbera in Left Field for Hicks and moved Aaron Judge to Center Field for IKF, while Jose Trevino returned in the catching position. The Yankees are reaping rewards, as Oswaldo Carbera has a double base hit in the bottom of the second. New York is leading 1-0 at the end of the second.
