When Buster Posey's decision to retire was supported by his friend and former Giants teammate Brandon Crawford

Buster Posey, the three-time world champion, finally retired in 2021, leaving many fans saddened. However, the former San Francisco Giants catcher couldn't be happier to have finally retired.

Buster Posey retired in 2021 to give his family more time, especially with the newer addition. Crawford wrote a heartfelt letter to his friend. Some of the lines from the letter were:

"It’s awesome to know that he and Kristen are going to be able to experience so many cool family milestones together as the kids grow up"

He added:

"All the memories that he’ll be making at home — while his former teammates are off ordering bad takeout in some hotel all the way across the country — that’s something you really can’t put a price tag on"

Crawford was sad but immensely pleased that his friend was giving time to the thing that matters most in his life, his family.

Buster married his high school sweetheart, Kristen and had two children, a pair of twins, with her in 2011. Back then, he hadn't debuted with the Major Leagues. In 2020, the couple adopted two twin girls.

The catcher debuted in 2009 and has played with the same team throughout his career. Brandon Crawford has also played for the same team since 2011, the Giants. While they were part of the same team, Crawford and Posey became friends.

Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford are close friends, and this is especially proven by the open letter written by Crawford in 2011.

In the letter, Crawford spoke of his experience with Poset and the bond shared between the two. In the letter, Crawford detailed when he first met the catcher.

He wrote:

"Buster’s been there my entire professional career. We were part of the same 2008 Giants draft class. And we go back even further than that. We actually played against each other in a summer tournament in high school, so we go all the way back to 2004. He was on Team Georgia, and I was on Team California."

The Giants shortstop continued:

"This was before either of us had gotten too much hype, and I won’t say who won, but I distinctly remember him being on the other team because, well….You don’t forget a name like Buster Posey."

No matter how much the fans of the Giants and Posey will miss him out on the field, it can't be denied that he is happy with his retirement. The former catcher, who is also Christian, decided to serve as the baseball chapel representative for the Giants.
