LeBron James won't be paying for verification on Twitter

LeBron James is a prominent figure on social media and recently weighed in on the latest internet debate. While he's been verified on Twitter, that will soon be coming to an end.

Starting in April, Twitter is making changes in regards to verification. They will be removing everyone's checkmarks and making people subscribe to Twitter Blue to keep it.

With the deadline coming up, LeBron James let the public know what he'll be doing. He has no intentions of paying a monthly fee to stay verified on Twitter.

"Welp guess my blue [check] will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5."

When will LeBron James lose his checkmark on Twitter

New Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently made the decision to change the stance regarding verification. According to a report from the New York Times, the LA Lakers star and others will have their checkmarks on Saturday, April 1, unless they subscribe to Twitter Blue.

"Starting on Saturday, many Twitter accounts will lose the check mark under modifications being made by Elon Musk, the social media company’s owner. Individual users must buy a subscription to Twitter’s Blue service, which costs $8 a month, to obtain the badge. Businesses that are currently unverified will have to pay $1,000 a month if they want a gold check mark verifying their account.
"The move, which will help Twitter generate revenue by making certain features exclusive to subscribers, has implications for a range of users on the platform. Here’s what to know."
