It's rare for the Golden State Warriors to make moves at the trade deadline, but this year could be different. Recent reports suggest they might be willing to move one of their young assests who hasn't panned out the way they had hoped.
Since being drafted second overall by the Golden State Warriors, James Wiseman has struggled in his NBA. The young center has shown some flashes, but not enough to warrant him playing on a nightly basis.
Originally, the Warriors had no intentions of moving any of their young prospects before Thursday's trade deadline. However, Anthony Slater of The Athletic cited that their thought process might be changing.
"The noise around the league the last couple of days is an increased willingness from the Warriors to engage in conversation and explore the idea of moving their younger, out-of-the-rotation players if a significant upgrade is available.
"In recent days, as the conversations league-wide progressively turn more practical, the conceptual deals coming the Warriors' direction increased enough to believe something might actually materialize before the buzzer."
Should the Golden State Warriors make a move at the trade deadline?
Given their current situation, the Golden State Warriors should be exploring all trade avenues before this week's deadline. If they can get suitable returns for players like James Wiseman and Moses Moody, they should be strongly considered.
Sitting at 28-26 for the year, the Golden State Warriors are right in the mix of the air-tight Western Conference. They are in seventh place now, but are just over three games out of a top-three spot. With that in mind, they should look to see which players can be acquired to help them defend their championship.
