Jaylen Brown is having the best season of his seven-year NBA career. The Boston Celtics swingman is arguably one of the best players at the moment, but he may leave the team very soon.

Brown has one more year left on his contract and will be paid $30.7 million in the 2023-24 season. However, he will become an unrestricted free agent after that and will be free to sign with whatever team offers him a contract.

Kendrick Perkins, who spent eight years in Boston, believes that Jaylen Brown wants to leave the team.

“He is giving me all the signs that he wants out of Boston,” Kendrick Perkins said about Brown.

In March, the two-time All-Star was asked if he plans to stay in Boston. He gave a rather cryptic response:

“I don’t know. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me,” Brown said. “We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. ... I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct.”

Brown has had several deep playoff runs with the Celtics, including a trip to the 2022 NBA Finals. Despite this, he may decide to leave the team in the summer of 2024.

After the loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, the Boston star liked a tweet that said he was disrespected by Celtics fans.

The 26-year-old star has spoken publicly about the toxic culture of Celtics fans. Considering that Boston has a bad reputation when it comes to the treatment of NBA players, this comes as no surprise.

The Celtics are among the favorites to win the championship this year. If Brown ends up winning the ring, the situation in Boston may change and he might decide to stay for the long term. However, winning it all certainly won't be easy since the league is extremely competitive.
