LA Lakers urged to be aggressive in trade market despite Anthony Davis' injury: "[His] injury should not 1% change the Lakers trade plans"

After an abysomal start to the season, things have started to turn around for the LA Lakers in recent weeks. Even with LeBron James missing time due to injury, have started to build positive momentum.

Part of why the Lakers got on track was because of the phenomenal play of Anthony Davis. In the month of November, he posted averages of 27.2 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

AD carried his MVP-level of play into December, but things came to a screeching halt. Over the weekend, Davis suffered a foot injury in LA's double-digit win over the Denver Nuggets. It later emerged that the former No. 1 pick is expected to be sidelined for a month.

Being without one of their stars throws a wrench in things for the LA Lakers, but one analyst feels it shouldn't change their plans. During a recent episode of "First Things First," FS1's Nick Wright explained why the team should still be aggressive in the trade market:

"This should not 1% change whatever their trade plans were.
"What you can't do is watch LeBron have another great year, 27,9, and 7, and then be like, 'Eh, we're going to worry about the future."

The LA Lakers are 5-5 in their past 10 games and 13-17 on the year. They currently sit just one and a half games behind the final spot in the play-in tournament.

Should the Anthony Davis injury change things for the LA Lakers moving forward?

Given the team's current makeup, Nick Wright is spot on in his breakdown of the LA Lakers. Even with Anthony Davis on the shelf for the next month, they should still pursue all avenues to upgrade the roster.

When LA traded for Anthony Davis, they sacrificed their future in the form of draft capital and young players. They paired him with LeBron James to put the team in a position to contend for championships. Changing directions now would be a horrible mistake.

In his 20th season, LeBron is still proving to be a high-impact player in the league. With AD playing at an MVP-level, the Lakers could trade for a player. If they can make a few upgrades to the supporting cast, they might be able to squeak into the playoffs. Once there, they have a star duo that can compete with any top pairing in the NBA.

Looking at the LA Lakers roster outlook, they have no promising young talent and minimal draft picks in the future. Worrying about the future now is pointless because they don't have the assets to gear toward a rebuild. Essentially, they have no choice but to try and build a playoff-ready roster around AD and Lebron.
