"Louisville will never host a Major ever again": Sam Dekker & Dorell Wright chime in on golfer Scottie Scheffler's detention

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested by the Louisville Metro Police on Friday. The arrest got several names from the basketball world talking. Former Cleveland Cavaliers player Sam Dekker and former Golden State Warriors forward Dorell Wright took to social media to react to the incident of the Louisville police arresting Scheffler.

Dekker who currently plays for the London Lions in the British Basketball League took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the news.

“Well, Louisville will never host a Major ever again,” Dekker wrote.

Wright was shocked by the arrest of the No. 1 golfer in the world.

“That Scottie news is nuts wow,” Wright wrote on X.

Scottie Scheffler was arrested for "reckless driving" and "felony assault on a police officer." According to reports, he was arrested before he entered Valhalla Golf Club, the place where the PGA Championship is being held.

According to ESPN reports, the Louisville Metro Police had blocked the road outside the Valhalla Golf Club after a man was killed by a shuttle bus. However, Scheffler tried to drive through the blocked area, and despite being directed to stop, Scheffler kept driving toward the club.

According to Jeff Darlington from ESPN, who was present at the scene of the arrest, after being asked to stop his car, Scottie Scheffler continued to drive a few yards. When he stopped his car, a police officer asked him to get out of the car.

Once the golfer opened his window, the officer grabbed and pulled him out of the vehicle and pinned him against the car. Scheffler even asked Darlington if he could help but the police officer asked the reporter to stay out of the way as Scheffler was going to be arrested no matter what.

According to the latest report by Sky Sports, Scheffler was released by the Louisville Metro Police. He also posed for a mugshot picture in Jefferson County jail.

Scottie Scheffler was entering the club for the second round of the PGA Championship. His arrest further delayed the tournament, which was already delayed by the accident outside the Valhalla Golf Club.

The golfer released a statement that read:

"This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I'm hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today."
