Skip Bayless calls Kyrie Irving ‘a bust’ and blames Mark Cuban for Dallas Mavericks' struggles

As the Dallas Mavericks face the possibility of missing the NBA Playoffs, both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have fielded quite a bit of criticism. The team is currently in the midst of a three-game skid that has seen them fall to 11th place in the Western Conference.

With the play-in tournament rapidly approaching and just three games left on their schedule, the team is reportedly considering shutting Doncic and Irving down. This week, Skip Bayless spoke on Undisputed and criticized the team for their recent play:

"Where is Spencer Dinwiddie now? Uh he's in Brooklyn, why is he in Brooklyn? Because Mark Cuban traded Spencer Dinwiddie, and Dorian Finney-Smith, who defends at a high level, and a first-round pick, and two second-round picks.

"All that for Kyrie Irving, who has been, on the scoreboard at least, in the win column at least, a bust."

The Dallas Mavericks’ options heading into the final three games

With the Dallas Mavericks losing three straight, and winning just three out of their last ten games, there has been talk of what the franchise should do next. While the team could look to go all-in these last three games in hopes of making the Play-In Tournament, there are reports indicating that they want better odds in the draft.

As a result, they could very well look to shut Doncic and Irving down for the final three games. While many have been wondering what went wrong in Dallas, it sounds as though superstar Luka Doncic could be dealing with some things off the court. As fans have pointed out, Doncic doesn’t seem to be his usual self on the court.

He spoke to media members after a recent loss, saying:

“It’s really frustrating. I think you can see it with me on the court. Sometimes I don't feel it’s me. I'm just being out there, you know? I used to have really fun smiling on court, but it's just been so frustrating for a lot of reasons, not just basketball.”

Of course, the team missing the Play-In Tournament could play a pivotal role in Kyrie Irving’s decision this off-season. Although both he and the team have expressed a desire to work out a contract this offseason, Irving could very well wind up landing elsewhere.

With the final games of the regular season upon us, only time will tell where the Mavericks go from here.
