Steph Curry leaving LeBron James off his all-time starting five had Skip Bayless curious: “Some jealousy and resentment factor between these 2"

Steph Curry shared a list of his all-time starting five. Putting together a line-up of the best players of all-time is something that the media and fans usually do. On Curry’s list he has himself, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Shaquille O’Neal. One name notably absent from the list is LeBron James.

Why is LeBron not on the list? It is not due to position because Curry has himself and Magic, who both play point guard. Maybe these are just guys that the Warriors’ guard grew up admiring and always wanted to play with. No one knows the real reason why none of his contemporaries are on the list except Steph Curry.

On FS1’s “Undisputed” hosts Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discussed the list and the motives behind it. Bayless speculated that he may have left LeBron off the list due to a little bit of jealousy between the two players. Sharpe pushed back a little bit on the assertion that his co-host made.

"I'll have to assume reading into this that there's still some jealousy and resentment factor between these 2, or he would've put LeBron in there." - Skip Bayless

LeBron James could be Steph Curry’s biggest rival. The two men played against each other in four straight NBA Finals. Curry’s Warriors won three of those four series against James’ Cavaliers. The one-win James did get was the 3-1 comeback in 2016 that ruined the Warriors' historic 73-9 season. There is also the notion that the Cavs only lost the 2015 title due to too many injuries.

On the list of all-time great players, most analysts would agree that James does rank above Curry, but the younger Curry has some time to maybe improve his standing. Both have 4-NBA Champions, but James has a lot more individual accolades. That being said, only Curry knows why he made the list the way he did.

Can Steph Curry be the Greatest Point Guard of All-Time

Before a player is considered the best player in basketball, they may want to be believed to be the best at their position. Could Steph Curry, by the time he retires, be considered the greatest point guard of all-time? He will go down as the best shooter, but that is a niche category.

Depending on who is asked, the names of the best point guards can vary. Usually at the top of the list is Lakers legend Magic Johnson. Even if Curry were to get the fifth ring, most fans and media who were around to see Johnson play wouldn’t rank Curry above him. Magic’s twelve-year career consists of nine NBA Finals appearances. He led the premier dynasty in the most revered era in the NBA.

No one knows how much high-level basketball Curry has left, but it will be hard for him to beat some of the reputations of the legends that came before him.
