“The Warriors are not contenders, they’re pretenders"- Shannon Sharpe destroys Steph Curry and the Warriors after 9th straight road loss

Speaking on FS1's "Undisputed," Shannon Sharpe claimed that Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are not title contenders.

The Golden State Warriors have revived their season and are currently sixth in the Western Conference. The team is churning out victories and looks set to enter the postseason yet again.

Recent victories such as the one over the Milwaukee Bucks will hold fans in good stead. Sharpe, however, believes they are not title contenders simply because they cannot win on the road:

“The Warriors are not contenders, they are pretenders. Last night was their ninth straight road loss. Think about it. They shoot 56% on the road, and they lose by 8. Because you cant get stops. You give up 75 points in the second half. You give up 5 defensive rebounds to Zubac, 4 to Russell Westbrook.

"Normally, they don’t lose a ball game when Steph Curry scores 50. The last time was back in 2013, that they lost two games in which he scored 50 points. You cant be a championship contending team if you cant win on the road.

"I mean last night without Steph Curry, Steph shot 20 off 28. He ain’t dunking, laying up, nothing. They are not contenders, they miss Andrew Wiggins more than you think.”

Are Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors not title contenders?

To say that the 2022 NBA champions are not title contenders might come across as insulting.

The Golden State Warriors, alongside a fit and firing Steph Curry, are capable of winning against any team. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have had different kinds of issues this season and Andrew Wiggins’ injury has disrupted the starting lineup.

Still, not one of the other contenders will be willing to count the Warriors out, simply because of what this core group has achieved over the past decade. With Curry now 35, there are not many years left for him to continue performing at this level. The Golden State Warriors will want to make the most out of his current form.

Curry is an NBA MVP contender and is averaging 30.2 points, 6.2 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game. He has received some high praise from the likes of Steve Kerr and Draymond Green on his 35th birthday and will be itching to get back to winning ways.
