Before he entered the NBA, Anthony Morrow was a fantastic high school player. Due to his impressive performances, the 6-foot-5 guard was named the North Carolina Mr. Basketball in 2004, which is a huge honor.

Morrow was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Charlotte Latin School, where he established himself as one of the best young players in the nation.

The sharpshooter spent nine years in the NBA and was a great backup player. Unfortunately, his reputation was ruined by the latest domestic violence incident that occurred in February 2023.

Four years before he received his first NBA contract, Anthony Morrow dominated his opponents in high school. The talented guard was honored by his high school as he was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2014.

Morrow was named "Mr. Basketball" as a senior. He led his team to two North Carolina 3A Independent School State Championships and was a 3-time All-State Performer.

During his senior year, Anthony Morrow averaged 22.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He was also named the MVP of the state tournament and led his team to a 27-4 record.

Morrow was so good that Steph Curry considers him the best high school player he ever played against.

"He was a god, like, could shoot, was 6'5", could post up, he could do everything," Curry said in 2022. "The best player I've played against for sure."

Curry and Morrow ended up playing together in the NBA in the 2009-10 season. This was Curry's rookie season, while Morrow was a sophomore.

After impressive performances in high school, Anthony Morrow played four seasons at Georgia Tech University, averaging 11.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

He wasn't particularly amazing in college, which is why he went undrafted in 2008. Morrow's sharpshooting skills, however, earned him a contract with the Golden State Warriors, and he ended up playing for six more teams during his nine-year NBA career.

Other notable players who won the North Carolina Mr. Basketball honor

Anthony Morrow was named "Mr. Basketball" in 2004, just a year after this honor belonged to Chris Paul. Paul is still in the league and has established himself as one of the best playmakers in NBA history.

Many other great players who made it to the NBA won the honor, including Mason Plumlee in 2009 and Reggie Bullock in 2010.
