Nic Claxton is a huge part of the Brooklyn Nets. The 6-foot-11 man is having a breakout season, and his amazing performances have helped the Nets become one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

Nic's father, Charles Claxton, also played basketball. Charles played briefly in the NBA but was nowhere near as successful as his son.

This article will reveal everything you need to know about Charles Claxton, Nic Claxton's father. We will look at Charles' basketball career and the NBA teams he played for.

Nic Claxton's father, Charles Claxton, played for the Boston Celtics

Charles Claxton was born on December 13, 1970, in Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He eventually moved to Miami, Florida, where he attended high school.

Charles committed to playing college basketball for the University of Georgia. In his first year with the Georgia Bulldogs, the 7-foot center averaged 9.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks.

In his second year with the team, Claxton improved his scoring average to 11.5 points per game. He was also much more efficient, converting 56.4 percent of his total field goal attempts.

The Bulldogs did not achieve great results during Claxton's tenure. The center spent four years playing for the university, yet the team's best record during that period was 18-10.

After four years with the Bulldogs, Charles Claxton declared for the 1994 NBA Draft. The draft class was incredible and featured several players who'd become stars, such as Jason Kidd and Eddie Jones.

The Phoenix Suns picked Claxton with the 50th overall pick. Unfortunately, the big man didn't play a single game for the Suns, but the Boston Celtics signed him before the start of the 1995-96 season.

The 7-footer appeared in only three games for the Celtics, averaging 0.7 points and 0.7 rebounds. He was waived in November 1995, and despite getting a contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz later on, he never played for those teams in the regular season.

Nic's amazing development

Like his father, Nic Claxton also played for the Georgia Bulldogs. After two years in college, the Brooklyn Nets picked Claxton with the 31st overall pick. Nic signed a new contract with the team in June 2022.

The 23-year-old center is now in his fourth season with the Brooklyn Nets and has established himself as one of the best shot blockers in the league. He's consistently improved throughout his career, which is why the Nets rewarded him with a two-year, $17.2-million contract last summer.

With 11.9 points per game on 74.3 percent shooting, Nic Claxton is the most efficient scorer in the entire league. Thanks to his impressive performances, the Nets have won 10 games straight and have the second-best record this season.
