Jerry Rice’s son, Brenden Rice, has now made the switch to the NFL, going to the Los Angeles Chargers. He took to Instagram to share a special message from his NFL-legend father. The former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, who is worth $50 million as per Celebrity Net Worth, revealed his son’s tendency to engage in playful banter with him.
“The thing about Brenden now, I think he has more confidence, he knows he can get the job done," Rice said. "Brenden is always trash talking me. ‘I’m bigger than you dad, I’m faster than you dad'. To be honest with you, yes he is bigger, faster and he can do it all.”
Rice termed his wide receiver son 'very competitive’ and applauded his route-running abilities. The three-time Super Bowl champion also revealed the one piece of advice that he gave his son before his NFL selection.
“The most important thing is to get in that door. Then you get a chance to prove yourself all over again. You earn respect by how you work every day on that football field. And I think he’s ready to go,” Rice added.
The Chargers used pick number 225 to draft Brenden Rice, who had a decent stint with the USC Trojans, catching 45 passes for 791 yards in his senior year.

In March, Brenden Rice revealed how his father, Jerry Rice, communicates via text. The former USC star was taking part in the ‘I am’ trend on Instagram in the buildup to the 2024 NFL Draft.
He jokingly spilled the beans on one emoji that Rice uses the most.
"I'm Jerry Rice's son, of course every time he texts me he ends the sentence with the GOAT emoji," he says in the reel.
Brenden gave evidence of his speed at the NFL Combine last month, running the 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Now he has a chance to prove himself under Jim Harbaugh with the Chargers. It will be interesting to see how his career shapes up.
