From Wikipedia- “Bias is an inclination to present or hold a partial perspective at the expense of (possibly equally valid) alternatives.”
Humanity suffers from confirmation bias. We tend to notice things which confirm our bias and tend to ignore which don’t. When Sehwag said Bangladesh are not a good test playing country when India toured them, he was applauded by pundits for speaking his mind. Basically, he dared to said something which everyone thought but did not have courage to say in public. Sehwag was the imbecile for the politically-correct and those pundits would have pounded on him had something gone wrong for India.
Yesterday, he said Bangladesh are not a good test team but they are a good one day team, I somehow find it absent from coverage. Sehwag, I admire him for his honesty, is as much serious when says Bangladesh are a good one day team as he was with when he said they are not a good test team. But, no one bothers. Bangladesh don’t admire him, neither does the rest of the world.
Sehwag is a true man. You could see hurt on his face yesterday, when he replied to Shastri regarding Bangladesh. His comments were not taken in right sense previously, but he still spoke his mind yesterday. Shastri’s question was implying that there was something between him and Banlgdesh. I tell you, his 175 were not intentional, or to prove a point to ‘poor Bangladesh’.
