David Warner – 10.5
David Warner is, definitely, Australia’s best batsman at this point of time. Steven Smith might be the number one ranked batsman in Tests, but it is David Warner on whose shoulders their hopes lie. Warner has been in sensational form of late and it seems as though he is likely to pick up where he left off against the South Africans.
The left-handed batsmen comes into the series on the back of two centuries against New Zealand in One Day Internationals, and will look to do the same against a feisty Pakistani bowling attack. With a credit price of 10.5, he might be among the most expensive players, but his recent form suggests it would be money well spent.
Mohammed Amir – 9.5
The much-maligned Pakistani bowler may have been out of the scene for a long while due to the ban he faced from the fixing charges. However, that couldn’t take away his ability as he has made a sensational comeback and become a sure starter in the Pakistan team.
His stats in Test matches may leave a lot to be desired, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t produce any goods as he has a tendency to pick up crucial wickets at crucial times. With a credit price of 9.5, he is a gamble worthy of being taken as he is most likely to earn you more than you spend on him.
Usman Khawaja – 8.5
For Usman Khawaja, hosting the country of his birth, Pakistan, in his country would be an emotional moment. But, with the form he is in, Pakistan should not expect a warm welcome from their batting export.
Along with David Warner, he was one of Australia’s strengths against the South Africans. With two 50s—one of which was an excruciating 97—and a 100 against the Proteas in 3 Tests, the 29-year-old remains a key figure in the Australian batting lineup. His ability to play the pacers with guile gives him an edge against the likes of Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Amir. With a price of just 8.5 credits, Khawaja emerges as a must have for your fantasy team.
Wahab Riaz – 9
Wahab Riaz has a long standing history with Australia. He had an aggressive rivalry with Shane Watson prior to the latter retiring from the game. But, the Riaz magic lives on, and he continues to bowl in the same vicious manner.
The 31-year-old left-arm pacer has taken 43 wickets in 14 Test matches. Returning to the country where he bowled ‘the best bowling spell by a foreigner for years, according to Kevin Pietersen, it would be foolhardy not to pick him in your team. With a credit price of 9 and penchant for bowling well against the Aussies, makes Wahab Riaz a man to watch out for in the series and an automatic pick.
Mitchell Starc – 9.5
On Australian pitches, where pace and bounce are an in-built feature, it would be foolish not to pick, arguably, the best pacer in the world at the moment – Mitchell Starc. The only thing that has stopped his blooming career thus far is his injuries, with batsmen yet to find a way to halt him.
The left-handed speedster may not have made the usual impact against the Proteas in the recently concluded series, but one can never really count out a bowler who has bagged 129 wickets from just 31 Tests. Playing at home and with a credit price of 9.5, he is more than a bargain.
