Gujarat Lions (GL): Book IPL 2016 tickets online

IPL 9 is underway and it has been spectacular so far to say the least. The tournament, which started on 9 April 2016 saw two teams – Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions – making their debut. However, these two teams will play in the IPL for only two years.

Notably, the Gujarat Lions have been performing exceptionally well in the initial stages of IPL with three wins out of three under their belt. They would be hoping that their current form continues for the rest of the season.

Gujarat Lions are the first team from Gujarat and the fans are ecstatic that IPL is finally here in the western-most Indian state. The Lions will play five of their home matches at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot and will play the rest of their home matches at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.

Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium has a capacity of 28,000. This is not the biggest stadium in the country, but the fans here are terrific. Green Park Stadium in Kanpur is also a fine place to enjoy a cricket match.

Gujarat Lions will play their next home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Rajkot on 21 April 2016 and will definitely be eyeing for a win in that game too.

Suresh Raina is the captain of the side for IPL 2016 and Aaron Finch and McCullum lead the charge in the batting department with their destructive approach. They will have to set the platform for the middle order.

Aaron Finch has been in extraordinary form and we all know how dangerous McCullum can be right at the start of an innings. Suresh Raina will have an important role to play in the middle order while Faulkner and Bravo will take the responsibility of torturing the opponents in the death overs, both with the bat and ball.

In the bowling department, Praveen Kumar leads the charge. He can swing the ball both ways and can get some quick wickets early on in an innings. Dwayne Bravo will be crucial as well with his excellent death bowling.

Along with Bravo, they have James Faulkner and together they make probably the best death overs bowling duo in T20 cricket. Then, there is Ravindra Jadeja who was excellent with the ball in the Ranji trophy. He will want the same to continue even in the IPL.

If Gujarat Lions can continue this form throughout the IPL, they will comfortably reach the playoffs and with a little luck, they might even reach the final.
