IPL 2018: Regular season Indian all-star XI 

With the regular season of the IPL complete. four teams are through to the playoffs as the season intensifies. The crunch part of the season will get underway today with the first match of the playoffs as SRH takes on CSK. The winner of this match reaches the final but the loser will play the winner of RR vs KKR to determine the IPL 2018 finalists.

The regular season was an entertaining bonanza with some fantastic cricket being displayed by all teams in the competition. The Indian cricketers have done well this season and we look at the best XI comprising the best in form players of the tournament.

Here we look at the regular season all-star XI, comprising of Indian players who have been stand-out performers in the league.

Openers

Rayudu hooks the ball away

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has been in sensational form of late and has been rewarded with a national team call-up. Rayudu has been in stellar form in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and will be heading to the upcoming tour of England bursting with confidence. A middle-order batsman, he can change the course of a game with his destructive hitting ability whilst at the same time add stability to the innings. Rayudu has scored 586 runs including a century in his 14 league games this season.

KL Rahul

KXIP opening batsman, KL Rahul has showcased his batting skills this IPL after coming back from an injury layoff. The player has been in sublime form this tournament, notching 659 runs in 14 games with a personal best of 95 not out. With some splendid knocks this campaign, Rahul has guided the team and performed the best he could but the franchise has failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Top Order

Virat Kohli once again stood out for RCB

Virat Kohli

Indian cricket captain and RCB captain, Virat Kohli has been in good form himself with the bat but his captaincy has been suspect this term. With the RCB not qualifying for the playoffs, a lot of criticism has gone Kohli's way although his batting stats are very good, as he notched up 530 runs in 14 matches with the best score of 92 not out. Kohli has played well with the bat but will have to wait another season to win his first IPL trophy.

Shreyas Iyer

Delhi Daredevils new captain and leader, Shreyas Iyer has been in good form in the IPL this season and thus, has won himself a place in the national team squad that will tour England. Iyer has notched 411 runs in 14 matches with 93* as his personal best this season. A contender for a place in the IPL team of the year, Iyer has been in good knick and almost revived Delhi's season after a dismal start.

Middle-order

Pant swings for the Delhi Daredevils

MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has been in superb knock himself this IPL season, notching 446 runs in 14 games for the returning yellow franchise. Leading by example, as usual, Dhoni has been unplayable at times this season smashing top bowler all around the park. Favourites to reclaim their lost title, CSK looks good to claim the title once again under the superb leadership of MS Dhoni.

Rishabh Pant

Rishab Pant has made a splash in the IPL this season with some breathtaking innings. Only 20 years old, the wicket-keeper batsman has an outside shot of making the World Cup squad if he keeps up his performances In his 14 games in the league season, Pant scored a staggering 684 runs including a massive score of 128 not out in a game.

All-rounders

Pandya has been good with the ball this term

Hardik Pandya

One of two complete all-rounders Pandya this year has done more damage with the ball rather than with the bat. However, he has been consistent with his performances for the Mumbai Indians picking up 18 wickets in 13 matches. Padya has also scored 260 runs this seasons with a best of 50. A good all-rounder, Pandya will only improve and get better.

Spinners

Markande has been one of the finds of IPL 2018

Mayank Markande

Mumbai Indians spinner and surprise package of the season, Mayank Markande has staked his claim on the national level of the game. The young spinner has picked up 15 wickets in 14 matches and has been the country's find of the tournament. Markande was devastating early on in the campaign but the team's form affected the player, although, he bounced back quickly and continued getting wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav

KKR spinner and talisman, Kuldeep Yadav has produced another consistent display of quality sin bowling, picking up 14 wickets in 14 matches. Yadav along with Narine has been pivotal for the team in making the playoffs with their bowling spells. A tricky spinner to pick up, Yadav is in line to secure and cement his spot in the national team as well if he keeps up his performances.

Seamers

Kaul in action for the SRH v RR

Siddarth Kaul

Siddarth Kaul has been rewarded for his brilliant form recently with a call-up to the national team for the tour against England. The medium pacer has been brilliant in the IPL this season for SRH, picking up 17 wickets in 14 league games.

The medium pacer, now 28, has fought his way back into contention in the Indian fold and if he continues to perform at such heights he could stand a chance to get selected and secure his spot in the national team.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav has had a good IPL season for the RCB this season, spearheading their bowling attack. He has picked up 20 wickets in 14 games and is second only to Andrew Tye with 24 scalps. The Indian seamer has been in good form although the team didn't qualify for the playoffs, the bowler has done his job and picked up wickets for the side.
