IPL 2018, RR vs CSK: Twitter erupts as Buttler downs Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling match

Rajasthan Royals, who were hosting Chennai Super Kings in a must-win game, were asked by CSK to bowl first. Rajasthan got the early breakthrough of Rayudu in the third over but the partnership of Watson and Raina put the Super Kings from Chennai ahead after 11 overs.

Rajasthan pulled things back nicely as they got the wickets of Watson and Raina in the twelfth and thirteenth overs respectively.

MS Dhoni along with Sam Billings ensured that they won't lose any more wickets in the middle before going all out in the death overs. With MS Dhoni batting till the end, Chennai Super Kings managed to set a target of 177 at the back of a superb half-century by Suresh Raina.

Playing in the pink, to spread cancer awareness, Rajasthan Royals' new opening of Buttler and Stokes got them off to a flier as they scored 48 runs in 4 overs before losing the wicket of Stokes off the last delivery of the fourth over. Stokes' wicket was followed by the wicket of Rajasthan's captain Ajinkya Rahane, who got out in the fifth over for a paltry score of 4.

In came Sanju Samson and RR were cruising through before a misunderstanding led to a run-out and that helped CSK pull things back. Debutant Prashant Chopra came in to bat after Samson's dismissal but even he got out quickly after hitting two boundaries.

Stuart Binny and Krishanappa Gowtham made crucial contributions of 22(17) and 13(4) respectively as Rajasthan Royals needed 12 runs off the final over. The two sixes hit by Gowtham off Wiley's bowling in the penultimate over made things easy for Buttler in the final over.

Buttler finished off the match for Rajasthan Royals with a 60-ball 95 to keep them afloat in the tournament.

With three teams stacked at 10 points from 11 matches, the competition to make it to the playoffs is ever increasing and will be interesting to see who will make it through.
