IPL 2018 RR vs DD: 3 Things you might have missed

The Royals secured their first win of the season

The first truncated game of this IPL, was a thriller of sorts, thanks to rain accompanied by lightning, helping Rajasthan Royals secure a win over Delhi Daredevils ascending to the 5th spot in the points table.

Sportskeeda takes a look at the three unnoticed things from the match which had a considerable impact on the end result.

#1 Trent Boult’s over of diverseness

Ent
Boult removed Stokes with a beautiful delivery

Trent Boult recreated test match scenario which happened a month ago against England by removing Ben Stokes with a peach of a delivery who was promoted to one down in the batting order.

Stokes had considerable success in the previous over dancing down the track and smacking him for a boundary but he stayed still and was caught in the crease for the next over bowled by Boult and edged to the wicketkeeper.

Boult, however, won't have been completely happy with that over thanks to some breathtaking batting from Sanju Samson who dispatched him for a boundary and six and Ajinkya Rahane completing the over with a four.

He ended up leaking away 15 runs in that over. A mixed bag indeed for the New Zealand pacer.

#2 Samson’s struggle against lefties

Samson has had a torrid time facing slow left-arm bowlers

Samson draws a lot of similarity to Rohit Sharma with the way he eases through his shots and being incredibly talented.

But he also found a new nemesis in the form of the slow left-arm bowlers. Samson was undone by Shakib Al Hasan in the last match and cleaned up by Shahbaz Nadeem today when he tried to play against the spin.

Samson has got out to left arm bowlers five times in his last seven IPL innings and could expect many more of them lining up to have a crack at him!

There is no place to hide in this format with people taking note of your weakness and shortfalls.

#3 D'Arcy Short falling short

Short hasn't had the best of starts to his IPL career

D'Arcy Short is one of the superstars emerged from the Big Bash league this year thanks to his lusty hitting and amazing centuries opening for Hobart Hurricanes.

But his stint in the IPL is turning out to be a disappointment so far thanks to the two-run outs in as many matches.

He had a mix up with Rahane while attempting to complete the second run and fell short of the crease when Vijay Shankar effect a direct hit from long off.

Short will dearly hope he won't be completing a hattrick of run outs when he comes to the crease next game.
