Former Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach, Vijay Dahiya has been appointed as the new chief of talent scout development wing of the Delhi Capitals. Dahiya replaces Praveen Amre, who served as the head of talent scout operations for the Delhi franchise for the past five years.

Speaking to PTI ahead of the IPL auction on the 19th of December, Amre stated that he was satisfied with his efforts as a talent scout. He revealed that his job was done as Indian players like Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw were established at the highest level and expressed his happiness in being part of that process. Amre said:

We have parted on really amicable terms. I feel that my family needs my time as I have been on road for the last eight years (three with Pune Warriors). I am happy that I have done my part as players like Shreyas (Iyer), Prithvi (Shaw) are now established stars," Amre told PTI, confirming the development. When Shreyas and Prithvi came into the DC set up, they needed a bit of hand-holding and guidance which I believe I provided. Now they are natured enough and I dont think I need to be constantly around them.

Giving more clarity on Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour’s recent appointment, Amre expressed his disappointment at not getting a chance to train the best that India had to offer and put the blame on the BCCI. He said:

I will not apply unless I am asked to. I have thrice applied for batting coach's position and have understood that there is no point applying if the BCCI doesnt approach you.

Apart from Amre, former Indian player Yuvraj Singh had also previously expressed concerns over Rathour's appointment stating that the former Indian batsmen was not the right person to handle the ever-changing technique of the modern cricketers and had questioned his T20 experience. Amre also spoke on the same lines and cleared that the BCCI selected whomsoever they wanted to, irrespective of the quality of the applicants for a particular job. He said:

Take this year's batting coach's position for example. A lot of us applied but somewhere everyone knew that the candidate was already zeroed in on. So from my experiences, I have learnt that no point in applying unless BCCI wants.
