Inaugural edition champions Rajasthan Royals and the new franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad have played twice previously, and on both occasions the home team won their respective matches.
In the first meeting at Jaipur, riding on the Shane Watson’s unbeaten 98, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target of 145 runs with a little over two overs to spare. While in the reverse fixture, hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 136 runs on the board and successfully defended it, restricting the Royals to 113 for 9 in their 20 allotted overs.
