IPL 6: KXIP vs SRH - Flops of the day

Mandeep Singh

When you’re required to chase a competitive score of 150 runs, the least you expect from a batting lineup is to provide a steady start. Mandeep Singh has now got two consecutive ducks to his name and, to be fair, he hasn’t done much in this season apart from his unbeaten 77 in the early stages. He has consistently failed to deliver in his past few innings now, and it won’t be a surprise if we don’t see his name in the starting XI for the last few games of the season. All he could do tonight was facing a couple of deliveries from Steyn in the most uncomfortable manner. He certainly needs to perform a whole lot better if he hopes to carry on at the highest level of the game.

Shikhar Dhawan

The Indian dasher looked pretty confident as he started off with a couple of spectacular boundaries. However, he should understand the importance of buying some time on the crease even in the fastest format of the game. Dhawan, in the fifth over, looked to accelerate the run-rate against the inexperienced Harmeet Singh that effectively led to his untimely dismissal. The batsman will be ruing on another lost opportunity to perform to his potential when he hit a back-of-length ball straight back to the bowler. He has flair, technique and the aggressive intent you expect in an upcoming opening batsman, yet all you’d expect is a bit more patience to guide his team in these crunch encounters.

David Miller

The Australian is now facing a difficult period in the Kings XI jersey considering the fact that he’s expected to bail his side out of their misery on every other evening. And in T20s, especially when you analyze the performances of the big-hitters like Miller, you’d never be able to get a consistent run of form out of them. Miller, right from the first ball he faced tonight, never looked convincing enough to power his side to another improbable win. His dismissal at a paltry score of 6 runs on a relatively mediocre delivery outside the off-stump sums up his miserable evening. Not that we could blame him every time his side fails to cross the finish line, but he could definitely be blamed for not applying himself when his side were chasing a gettable target of 151.
