Irate Pakistan fans smash TV sets in frustration after loss to India

Defeat in an India-Pakistan match does not go well with either set of supporters. It seems as if the anger and frustration boiled over big time this time in Pakistan as furious supporters took to the streets after Pakistan lost yet another World Cup encounter against Arch-rivals India.

Not only this, many people even burnt cricket bats and smashed their Television sets. Pakistan has had a miserable run against India in all World Cup matches and they have lost all 11 encounters.

Fans also raised slogans against PCB

This is not an isolated example of people venting out their frustration in such a violent manner. Earlier when India beat Pakistan in the Asia Cup, irate fans similarly took to the streets and vandalised TV sets .

Shahid Afridi too has been criticised for his captaincy and his choice of sides. On a pitch offering considerable spin, Pakistan dropped Bilal Asif and picked four frontline quicks. This move backfired as India after initial jitters cruised home easily courtesy a Virat Kohli special.

People raised slogans against the PCB and heir players for letting them down repeatedly, and not doing enough to even compete with India. Even West Indies great Brian Lara questioned the team selection of Pakistan.

Anger boiled over

Saqlain Mushtaq also came down hard and questioned the strategy.

“They couldn’t read the pitch. In any case, for such a prominent match they ought to have played a legitimate spinner. It was not a pitch to handle four quick bowlers,” he said.

Former Test captain turned commentator, Ramiz Raja also felt that the selection was not right against India.

"This team management to me does not appear to have the ability to make the right decisions. It is strange they had decided to field an extra pace bowler one day before the match," Ramiz said on Geo News channel.

Several former players also expressed disappointment with the tactical blunders.

Basit Khan, former test batsman even questioned Imran Khan’s presence in the squad. He did not spare Afridi either.

“I don’t think of him as a spinner or an appropriate batsman. I used to play him like a pace bowler. I am shocked that Pakistan dropped a spinner for the match against India,” he said.

Others blamed the media for creating unnecessary hype and playing up the match, that builds pressure on the teams. Only one team it seems is affected by the pressure then.
