Kumar Sangakkara unhappy with Sri Lanka's abrupt scheduling of series with India

Kumar Sangakkara isn’t happy with the abrupt scheduling of series against India

Former Sri Lanka skipper and star batsman Kumar Sangakkara has expressed his displeasure over Sri Lanka Cricket’s immediate decision of touring India.

SLC on Friday accepted BCCI’s invitaion to visit India for a 5-match ODI series in the wake of West Indies players pulling out due to their payment structure dispute with WICB. The 36-year-old posted a tweet raising concerns about abrupt ending to their fitness programme.

“Our 6 weeks of pure fitness work ends abruptly. Have a week to do a months requirement of skill work before India. Planning ahead anyone?” – @KumarSanga2

Under the watch of former national rugby union captain Chandrishan Perera, the Sri Lankan cricketers have been undergoing a rigorous fitness programme keeping in view their busy schedule leading up to World Cup next year. The programme is a follow-up of a report filed by SLC which raised concerns about the fitness levels of the players.

The Lankans are scheduled to play 7 ODIs at home against England from November 26th before heading off to New Zealand to play 2 Tests and 7 ODIs ahead of the World Cup.

Now, the gap before the England tour, which was scheduled to be preparation time for players, has suddenly been taken up by the India series, which starts from November 1st according to BCCI.
