Stylish Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav was one of many who waxed lyrical following yet another enthralling innings by Rishabh Pant.

Pant, on Sunday, added another record to his kitty. The belligerent left-hander hammered a 28-ball half-century on the second evening of the pink ball Test against Sri Lanka to break a 40-year-old record.

He became the fastest half-centurion for India in Test cricket, breaking the erstwhile record of legendary Kapil Dev, who had scored a fifty off 30 deliveries against Pakistan in 1982.

As usual, social media went bonkers following yet another 'Pant-Mania'. Suryakumar Yadav too took to his official account to post a couple of tweets, writing:

"Hum iss ladke ko jaante hain (I know this boy) 😁 #RishabhPant #INDvsSL

Pant reached his fifty against left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama with a sumptuous cover drive in the 42nd over of India's second innings.

The 24-year-old is now ahead of Dev (30 deliveries), Shardul Thakur (31 deliveries) and Virender Sehwag (32 deliveries) in the list of India's quickest Test half-centurions.

Unfortunately, Pant got out in the same over in an attempt to deposit Jayawickrama over mid-wicket.

Rishabh Pant lights up Bangalore with yet another swashbuckling knock

It was yet another typical Pant innings where he threw caution to the wind and asserting his dominance over proceedings.

He made his intentions clear from the outset, dancing down the pitch and smashed Jayawickrama into the deep square-leg stand. From there on, it was carnage as the Delhi player went about unleashing his strokeplay.

Late cuts, lofted drives, scoops and authoritative cover-drives against seamers - this was a typical Pant innings. In the process, he once again reminded everyone why he is the most entertaining player currently.

This was Rishabh Pant's seventh 50+ score in Tests on home soil, which includes four 90s and a magnificent 100 against England in Ahmedabad last year.

He scored a brilliant 97-ball 96 in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali last week. Pant followed that up with a typically entertaining 26-ball 39 in the first innings of the ongoing Test.

Meanwhile, the hosts have taken complete control of proceedings in Bangalore, looking on course for a big win. India lead by 408 runs with 18 overs and three full days to go.
