Irfan Pathan recently caught up with his former Indian teammate MS Dhoni in Chennai. Pathan was in the city for his professional commitments for the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday, May 10.

CSK managed to register a comfortable 27-run victory against DC on a traditional Chepauk surface, which offered slow turn. MS Dhoni also played a brisk cameo, scoring 20 off nine balls to entertain fans in attendance at the fag end of the innings.

Pathan took to his official Instagram handle and shared a couple of photos of himself along with Dhoni.

The duo played together for Team India for a couple of years. He was also part of the CSK squad in IPL 2015 but never debuted for the yellow side due to injury issues. The southpaw then played four matches for Rising Pune Supergiants under MS Dhoni's leadership in 2016.

Opening up about the camaraderie between him and Dhoni over the years, Irfan Pathan wrote:

"Jaha se chorte hai wahi se fir se shuru hoti hai Hamari dosti. Never been a time where we met and didn’t remember our good old days. Some funny memories comes back to the life every time we meet. @mahi7781 #leader #friend"

If it is a slow pitch, no one manages the spinners better than MS Dhoni: Irfan Pathan

During a post-match discussion on Star Sports after CSK's convincing win against DC, Irfan Pathan opined that MS Dhoni is a master and one of the best in managing spin bowlers on a slowish pitch.

He also felt that the CSK spinners were too hot to handle for the DC batters, who struggled miserably against them last night. Pathan said:

"They always spin their web in bowling. If it is a slow pitch, no one manages the spinners better than MS Dhoni and he did that very well. The web they spun, the Delhi Capitals batters could never come out of it. A spinner was introduced only in the sixth over. The fast bowlers had taken wickets before that."

He added:

"We also saw a run-out. Then the one over from Jadeja, he was ripping the ball and there were also discussions in the middle between Dhoni and Jadeja about what could be done. There was no chance. Apart from that one partnership, at no stage it seemed that the Delhi Capitals could win the match. Once the total went above 150, it was all CSK after that."

The Super Kings will next be in action against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, May 14 at Chepauk.
