[Watch] Ruturaj Gaikwad drops a dolly to give Cameron Green reprieve in RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 match

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad dropped an easy catch of Cameron Green against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The drop came when Green was batting on 18 runs off 10 balls. The right-hander made the best of the dropped chance, scoring an unbeaten 38 off 17 deliveries, an innings laced with three sixes and as many boundaries.

The drop came in the 16th over of RCB's innings. Shardul Thakur bowled a pitched-up delivery and Green smashed it towards long-off. Gaikwad in the deep dropped it. The ball rushed a boundary to add fuel to the fire.

Cameron Green has looked decent with both bat and ball in IPL 2024. He has amassed 228 runs in 11 innings. With the ball, he has eight wickets in 11 games.

RCB set a 219-run target for CSK in IPL 2024 match

A clinical batting display from the top order helped RCB post 218/5 against CSK on Saturday. Captain Faf du Plessis starred with the bat, scoring 54 off 39, including three sixes and as many boundaries. Virat Kohli hit 47 off 29 with the help of four sixes and three fours. The duo shared a 78-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Meanwhile, Raja Patidar also continued his sublime form, scoring 41 off 23, comprising four sixes and two boundaries. Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell chipped in with scores of 14 (6) and 16 (5), respectively.

Shardul Thakur emerged as the leading wicket-taker for CSK, returning with two wickets but conceded 61 runs in his fours overs. Mitchell Santner and Tushar Deshpande also bagged one wicket apiece.

For the unversed, RCB must win the match by at least 18 runs to go past the Super Kings' net run rate (NNR) and secure a place in the top 4. On the other hand, the defending champions must score at least 201 runs to progress in the top four even if they lose the match.
