Virat Kohli's dismissal in RCB vs KKR match became a talking point on social media on Sunday evening.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli was spotted having a chat with the umpire after their IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday at Eden Gardens.

An interesting incident happened during the first ball of the third over in the second innings when KKR pacer Harshit Rana delivered a high full toss. Virat Kohli could not put the loose ball away and offered a return catch, which was pouched safely by the bowler.

Kohli immediately took the review, hoping it would be adjudged as a no-ball. After careful inspection of the replays, the third umpire deemed the delivery legal and ruled Kohli out. The decision infuriated the star Indian batter as he had a heated discussion with on-field umpires before walking to the pavilion.

The controversial decision also received mixed reactions from fans on social media platforms, as some felt it was a no-ball, while few others backed the umpires' decision.

One of the fans at the stadium shared a video to give everyone a glimpse of the chat between Virat Kohli and the umpire after the match concluded. In it, the umpire could be seen explaining the rationale behind the decision to the RCB batter.

Virat Kohli gave a brisk start to RCB in a chase of 223 before the no-ball drama

KKR batted first in the match after losing the toss and notched up a daunting total of 222/6 in 20 overs. Phil Salt (48) and Shreyas Iyer (50) starred in the top order for them, while Andre Russell (27*) and Ramandeep Singh (24*) finished the innings well.

In a steep chase of 223, Virat Kohli teed off from the beginning, smashing two sixes and one four en route to 18 (7) before his controversial dismissal in the third over. Faf du Plessis (7) also followed him to the pavilion soon, leaving the visiting side in a difficult situation.

Will Jacks (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) then salvaged the chase with stroke-filled fifties, bringing the required run rate under control. However, both departed in quick succession after reaching their individual milestones, which hampered RCB's progress.

Dinesh Karthik (25) and Karn Sharma (20) tried hard in the end, but RCB eventually lost the match narrowly by one run.
