[Watch] Virat Kohli follows heartbroken MS Dhoni to the dressing room as CSK legend skips handshakes with RCB players in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli followed MS Dhoni to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dressing room after the hosts knocked the five-time champion out of IPL 2024. Notably, Dhoni skipped shaking hands with RCB players, who were busy celebrating their 27-run win to progress into the playoffs.

In a video doing the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), Dhoni was seen skipping handshakes with players and instead chose to shake hands with RCB's support staff before walking to the dressing room. Kohli soon came to meet Dhoni in what is rumored to be his last IPL season. The duo share a great friendship on and off the field.

MS Dhoni looked devastated in the dugout as he failed to finish it off in style for CSK in the last over. The 43-year-old smashed a 110-metre six outside the stadium off Yash Dayal as the Super Kings needed 17 runs off the last six balls.

The new ball offered Dayal a better grip to execute a slower delivery and Dhoni was caught by Swapnil Singh at deep backward square. The right-hander finished with 25 runs off 13 balls but failed to take his team over the line.

"With MS there, I thought, oh dear, he has done it so many times" - Faf du Plessis on where RCB won the match against CSK in IPL 2024 clash

RCB captain Faf du Plessis expressed relief to see the back of MS Dhoni in a pressure situation as his team knocked out CSK to get into the playoffs. He said in his post-match comments:

"We were defending 175, it got a bit close, at one stage, with MS there, I thought, oh dear, he has done it so many times. The way we bowled with the wet ball was unbelievable, we tried to change it."

Du Plessis continued:

"[on what he told Dayal before the last over] Pace off is the best option on this pitch and trust your skills and enjoy, this is what you trained for. The yorker did not work the 1st ball and he went back to pace off and it worked unbelievably well."
