Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 43 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, January 27.

The two teams have so far locked horns 34 times in IPL, with Delhi leading the head-to-head battle against Mumbai at 19:15.

MI beat DC by 29 runs in their most recent faceoff at Wankhde Stadium on April 7.

Asked to bat first, MI posted 234/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided a promising start by sharing an 80-run stand for the opening wicket.

Sharma scored 49 runs off 27 balls in an innings laced with three sixes and six boundaries. Kishan scored a quickfire 42 off 23 deliveries with the help of two sixes and four boundaries.

Axar Patel then dismissed the two batters before Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed sent back Suryakumar Yadav (duck) and Tilak Varma cheaply, respectively.

Captain Hardik Pandya chipped in with 39 off 33 before being dismissed by Nortje. Meanwhile, Tim David and Romario Shepherd stayed unbeaten on 45 (21) and 39 (10) to help MI post a big total.

In response, DC managed 205/8 in 20 overs. Shepherd dismissed David Warner cheaply but Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel shared an 88-run partnership for the second wicket. Shaw smashed 66 off 40, comprising three sixes and eight boundaries. Porel scored 41 off 31 with the aid of five boundaries.

Tristan Stubbs then put up a lone fight, scoring an unbeaten 71 off 25 in an innings featuring seven sixes and three boundaries.

Gerald Coetzee starred with the ball for MI, returning with exceptional figures of 4/34, while Jasprit Bumrah bagged two wickets.

DC's scorecard from their last IPL game

DC beat Gujarat Titans by four runs in their last IPL game at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 24.

Asked to bat first, the Capitals posted 224/4 in 20 overs. The hosts lost three quick wickets in the form of Prithvi Shaw, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Shai Hope.

Captain Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel then shared a 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Pant led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 88 off 43, including eight sixes and five boundaries. Patel smashed 66 off 43 with the help of four sixes and five fours. Tristan Stubbs provided the late flourish, hitting 26 off seven deliveries, comprising two maximums and three boundaries.

Sandeep Warrier emerged as the leading wicket-taker for GT, returning with figures of 3/15, while Noor Ahmed picked up one wicket.

In response, GT managed 220/8 in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan and Wriddhiman Saha shared an 82-run partnership after captain Shubman Gill departed cheaply. Sudharsan scored 65 off 39, including two sixes and seven boundaries. Saha hit 39 off 25, comprising one six and five boundaries.

David Miller then put up a lone fight, scoring 55 off 23, hitting three maximums and six boundaries. Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore chipped in with 21*(11) and 13 (6), respectively, but failed to take the team past the finish line.

Rasikh Dar Salam starred with the ball for DC, returning with three wickets but conceded 44 runs. Kuldeep Yadav also bagged two wickets, while Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel shared one each.

MI's scorecard from their last IPL match

MI lost to Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets in their last IPL match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 22.

Batting first, Mumbai put up 179/9 in 20 overs. The visitors got off to the worst possible start and were reduced to 52/4 after 7.3 overs. Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera starred with the bat and put on a 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Varma scored 65 off 45 in an innings comprising three sixes and five boundaries. Wadhera came up with another valuable contribution, scoring 49 off 24, including four sixes and three boundaries.

RR's Sandeep Sharma took a fifer and finished with career-best figures of 5/18, while Trent Boult bagged two wickets. Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up one wicket apiece.

In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his second century of IPL, scoring an unbeaten 104 off 60, comprising seven sixes and nine boundaries. Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson chipped in with 35 (25) and 38 (28), respectively.

MI's Piyush Chawla managed the solitary wicket of Buttler.
