Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by one run in match number 36 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, April 21.

In yet another high-scoring thriller, KKR put up an impressive total of 222-6 after being asked to bat. RCB came up with a commendable effort in the chase, but were all out for 221 off the last ball.

Kolkata got off to a scintillating start with the bat courtesy of Phil Salt, who smacked 48 off 14. Skipper Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 50 off 36, while Ramandeep Singh (24* off 9) played a blinder of a cameo. In the chase, Will Jacks (52 off 32), Rajat Patidar (52 off 23) and Karn Sharma (20 off 7) gave KKR a scare, but they sneaked home in the end.

Kolkata Knight Riders' next match in IPL 2024 will be against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, April 26. They will look to continue their great form in IPL 2024 against a struggling Punjab franchise.

KKR will be favorites against PBKS

The Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 26 will be match number 42 of IPL 2024. This will be an evening game, which will begin at 7:30 pm IST. The toss in the match will take place at 7:00 pm IST.

Punjab Kings are languishing at ninth position in the points table, with only two wins from eight matches.

In their most recent encounter on Sunday in Mullanpur, they went down to Gujarat Titans by three wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Punjab Kings came up with a poor effort to fold up for 142. Their bowlers fought hard but didn't have enough runs to play with.

Punjab Kings have been struggling in IPL 2024 because their big names have failed to fire. It has not helped that the team has been without the services of their skipper Shikhar Dhawan for the last few matches.

The likes of Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone have had forgettable tournaments, although the latter has done reasonably well with the ball.

Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma are the only ones who have shown consistency with regard to performances for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. And that says a lot about how poor they have been.
