The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Gujarat Lions finished in the top 4 last season but have had contrasting starts to their IPL 2017 season. While the defending champions eased their way to a 35 run victory in the first match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Lions were bruised and battered by a fantastic display of batting by the Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match.
This will be the second home match in a row for David Warner’s side and that could provide a small advantage to them over the Lions. They have a well-balanced side with a lot of senior players in the side who performed exceptionally well in the match against RCB. They would have to do without the services of Mustafizur Rahman once again as he is expected to join the team only next week. However, Rashid Khan, the first Afghani to play in the IPL bowled really well and would look to cement his place in the side after today’s match.

Despite losing their first match by 10 wickets, the Gujarat Lions would take a lot of positives from the match especially from their batting department. Brendon Mccullum and Jason Roy looked solid at the top order and Raina was back at his best despite getting a few lives from the KKR fielders. They would most probably make two changes to their playing XI with James Faulkner making way for Dwayne Smith and Basil Thampi making way for Manpreet Gony.

If SRH bat first
Prediction: 190+
David Warner has not had a great time in India so far and would be hoping to turn his fortunes around. After a poor outing in the Test series, he got off to a good start in their first IPL game but was softly dismissed after scoring 14. If he gets going, we could expect a huge total. Moises Henriques and Yuvraj Singh were the stars of the last match and they would look to carry on their good form into the 2nd game as well. The first match saw over 200 runs scored in the first innings and we could expect something similar given the batting firepower in SRH’s line-up.
If GL bat first
Prediction – 180+
Their strength is their batting and they would be looking to make the most of it if they bat first. As we have witnessed on multiple occasions, we are all aware of what to expect if Brendon Mccullum gets going. Suresh Raina, who is the highest run-getter in IPL’s history would be looking to continue his good run of form and take the Lions to a huge total. Given the fact their bowling line-up is not too strong, we could expect the batsmen to go all out and score big.
Predicted winners: The SRH are more likely to come out the winners once again given their strength in the both the departments of the game.
