Lalit Modi, leaves the High Court in London back in March 2012, after a hearing in a libel case brought against him by Former New Zealand cricket captain Chris Cairns.
Lalit Modi has issued a statement on the recent developments in his on going case against Chris Cairns. The statement is as follows:
“I am aware of the news reports and significant social media activity which are circulating regarding yesterday’s arrest on suspicion of perverting the course of justice of Mr Andrew Fitch-Holland, the barrister who gave evidence on behalf of Chris Cairns in Mr Cairns’ successful libel action against me in 2012. I am also aware of Mr Cairns’ acknowledgment following that arrest, that he has now been spoken to by both the ICC and the Metropolitan Police as part of their investigations. Whilst I am obviously watching these events with a keen interest, I am not able to comment at this time. My legal team and I will keep abreast of developments, and I will make any further comment if and when it is appropriate to do so.”
