19-year-old left arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman made history last night during his side’s emphatic win over India by becoming the 10th bowler in ODI history to take a 5-wicket haul on debut.
Incidentally, exactly one year ago, another young prodigy Taskin Ahmed (his new ball partner last night) became the first Bangladeshi bowler to achieve this feat against the same opposition. Bangladesh’s strategy to go in with four pacers paid off last night as they thumped World no.2 India by 79 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Mustafizur accounted for the wickets of top-scorer Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Sri Lankan seamer Shaul Karnain became the first bowler to achieve this feat in 1984 when he picked 5 wickets for 26 runs against New Zealand.
South African legend Allan Donald is the biggest name featuring on this list. He announced himself with a devastating spell against India back in 1991.
