Why the Indian T20 World Cup squad is incomplete without Yuvraj Singh

Apparently, the selection of Yuvraj Singh in the T20 World Cup squad has raised a lot of questions on the selectors, but in my opinion, just like Sachin Tendulkar can’t be excluded from the ODI World Cup squad, Yuvraj Singh also must be included in the T20 World Cup Squad.

The most commonly asked question that has been thrown on his credibility is that he hasn’t played any cricket since November 2011, then how can he go directly in the World T20? Let me tell you my friends, that he has recovered completely from his illness and has not only had light warm-up sessions but also played for KSCA – XI ( Karnataka State Cricket Association) against the Indian U-19 squad which was preparing for the ICC U-19 World Cup in Australia.

Not just that, he also scored a decent 47 which includes quite a few boundaries and a six, bowled 5 overs and fielded for a good 30 overs (obviously). This is enough to show that the man has not lost even a bit of his talent. Through his Twitter account, he has also expressed his desire to make a comeback and give his best for winning the T20 World Cup.

Also, for the shorter version of the game India is in grave need of an all-rounder and Irfan Pathan seems to be the only one in form presently. Yuvraj as we all know, is a “made-for-this-format” man of India. You may think this is a hyperbole or an over-exaggeration but my next few lines will be enough to convince you. Yuvraj Singh is the most consistent T20 Indian batsman with an average of 31.5 (highest among all Indian batsmen), has scored 5 fifties in 23 T20 international innings and has hit the highest number of sixes (37 – 9 more than Suresh Raina, who is the 2nd highest six hitter) and we all know that he can bowl pretty well and has also won India many matches in the 2011 World Cup just with his brilliant bowling.

To conclude, the man who was “Man of the Series” in the 2011 World Cup, who was the highest run-getter for India in the 2009 T20 World Cup and hit 6 sixes in an over in the Inaugural T20 World Cup, must be selected for this year’s T20 World Cup.
